Bonnie Raitt Has New Album With Songs by Bob Dylan
Bonnie Raitt, Grammy Award winning singer and musician, has plans to release a new album in April after a 7-year hiatus.
The 62-year-old American-blues singer and songwriter, who became well known during the 1990s for songs like “Something to Talk About,” will title the new album “Slipstream”, which debuts April 10th.
The album is the first to be released under her own record label, Redwing Records, and will be followed by a major tour. In a comment to the AP Press she said, “It’s just a new batch of great songs.”

Her last album, titled "Souls Alike", was produced in 2005. The new 12-track album will include a variety of different music styles, including covers of Bob Dylan’s “Million Miles” and “Standing in the Doorway.”
Raitt explained that she had needed a break from the pressure of always considering her next move: “I hadn’t stopped moving in a very long time so I really wanted to take a total break and not concentrate on making a new record or what I was going to do next,” she told AP Press.
The musician has been involved in activism since the early 1970s, opposing the Vietnam War, President Bush’s second term, and nuclear weapons. She has also given her support for the environment.
Raitt was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March of 2000. The singer described her recent break as valuable because she was able to decide for herself, when she was ready to return.
