Born-again rapper Hopsin, who shook the Internet this summer when he irreverently revealed that he'd lost his faith in God on his latest album Ill Mind of Hopsin 7, shocked fans again early Wednesday morning when he announced that he's leaving the music industry and is moving to Australia.

"I just wanted to take time out to say I appreciate all of u who have supported my music over these past few years. A Lot of u have told me stories about how I have changed your life. You too have changed mine in ways that u can never imagine. Unfortunately, tonight is the night that I am actually moving away to Australia," noted Hopsin, 28, whose real name is Marcus Jamal Hopson, in a Facebook post to his nearly 2.5 million fans. He also shared the announcement on his other social media accounts, such as Instagram.

"Over the past couple years I have come to [the] conclusion that this profession just isn't for me, so im going to venture out into new areas of life. I will always be an MC at heart, but this rap stuff just isn't for me. I hope You guys can respect it. I've signed over my half of the funk volume label to my business partner Dame. I also wished Swizzz, Dizzy Wright and Jarren Benton good luck in their careers. Thank u all! I'm out," he ended.

As of noon Wednesday, the post had been shared more than 18,000 times and liked more than 71,000 times.
While many of his fans wished him, well a significant number hoped out loud that the announced is some kind of joke or publicity stunt.

"I hope this is just a big joke ... you're one of only a handful of artists on this planet that make 'real music' that can have a positive impact on society. Been a fan of yours for four years now," replied actor and model Jon Brownell in a post that has been liked more than 3,000 times.

In an interview with Hard Knock TV published in October 2012 Hopsin said he had "found God."

"I've been working on my relationship with God and when you work on your relationship with God, it gets to a point where you don't want to walk down the sinful road anymore. You know, I still do because I'm human, but as my relationship gets closer to God, those things are just gonna cut off in my life naturally. I'm not gonna want to do those things anymore because of what I'm becoming so I'm not necessarily saying I'm gonna be doing Christian music or music that just talks about God or I'm always preaching, but I have found God and I see things differently," he said.

In the angst-filled lyrics of his latest song, "Ill Mind of Hopsin 7," which he released this summer, Hopsin explained that "I'd lost faith" and that he couldn't see that light he saw in 2012 anymore and had started questioning everything around him.

In his monologue directed at God, Hopsin said:

Send your condolences, this is me reaching to You so don't forget
If hell is truly your pit of fire and I get thrown in it
I'mma probably regret the fact that I ever wrote this [expletive]
My gut feeling says it's all fake
I hate to say it but [expletive] it, [expletive] I'd lost faith
This isn't a small phase, my perspective's all changed
My thoughts just keep picking [expletive] apart all day
And in my mind I make perfect sense
