When John and Crystal Copeland found out the twin daughters Crystal carried were conjoined, they were terrified. This was nearly 20 years ago, and the internet provided no hope. Doctors knew that the chances were high the babies would end up stillborn.
Thankfully, Caitlin and Emily Copeland were born fused at the chest, liver and bile ducts – and not the heart. At 10 months, they were separated, and the two girls took off from there. They graduated at the top of their class, and are headed to different colleges.
