'Boruto' Chapter 12: Boruto Tasked With Protection of Daimyo's Spoiled Son, How Long Can He Last?

After a brief hiatus, the newest chapter of the "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" manga series has finally been released, and along with it, a brand-new arc begins. Can Boruto survive what Konohamaru-Sensei has dubbed as the "other side" of being a ninja?

After closing the curtains on its adaptation of "Boruto: Naruto the Movie," the manga series "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" opened up its 11th chapter with a new challenge for its main protagonist; that is, to serve as a bodyguard to Tentou, the condescending son of Daimyo Madoka of the Land of Fire.

The Land of Fire is the shinobi nation where Konoha is located. So, while the Daimyo stays in Konoha for several days to attend a conference with Naruto, the Seventh Hokage, the latter's eldest son, Boruto, is coincidentally tasked with the protection of the Daimyo's son. Konohamaru tells Boruto that this should also serve as a lesson on the other non-aggressive missions that a ninja has to put up with.

But seeing as Boruto's first impression of Tentou was already an unfavorable one after the Daimyo's son told him he looked shabby for a Hokage's son, how long can Boruto possibly put up with having to escort a patronizing kid who requested to be shown life from Boruto's level? Can their mutual love for the new, popular card game, Extreme Ninja Scrolls (ENS), eventually forge a friendly connection between them?

On top of Boruto's new mission, fans have also shown concern for the mark that Momoshiki seems to have left on the boy's right palm, and how this could possibly play into the much bigger threat of yet unnamed villain who has been stealing ninja tech information from Konoha all this time.

There is a speculation that this curse mark could quite possibly awaken Boruto's Byakugan capabilities, which he could've inherited from his mother's Hyuga lineage; a potential turn of events that harkens back to the first chapter of the manga, wherein a much older Boruto was shown with a Byakugan on his right eye.

Big twists and tragic outcomes could be afoot in the continuing story of Boruto's journey to becoming a true-blue ninja. Follow his adventures every month on the "Weekly Shounen Jump" magazine.
