BOSS The Movement's Curriculum Empowers Youth

LOS ANGELES — BOSS (Building On Spiritual Substance) The Movement is a ministry that teaches how “Thy will” can be “done on earth as it is in Heaven.” With mission "to teach the relevance of God and His Word; and to economically empower youth through the development of their talents," The organization pushes youth and adults to question the process of how we can establish Kingdom of God and supports the church to equip them to partake in the establishment.

BOSS The Movement runs two different functions: 1) The BOSS The Movement after school curriculum for youth ages 7-19; and 2) an adult counterpart called "Vertical Leap" seminar -- "an intense spiritual boot camp" that takes place over one weekend a month and is attended by pastors, leaders, community members and Christian adults who want to learn the Biblical principles to bringing their dreams alive.

One of the core strengths of both the BOSS The Movement curriculum for youth and the Vertical Leap Seminar for adults is a series of 10 Biblically-based pledges that are required learning.

BOSS The Movement’s curriculum for youth raises young Christians around the world into faithful positive individuals through the 20-week course. According to BOSS The Movement, the curriculum has the following objectives:

-- Develop the student's self-confidence and self-esteem.
-- Develop the student's leadership abilities.
-- Develop the student's ability to speak in public.
-- Develop the student's capacity to be independent of peer pressure.
-- Develop the student's ability to write out his or her plans.
-- Develop the student's ability to follow through and complete projects.
-- Teach the student to successfully communicate with others.
-- Teach the student to share responsibility.
-- Teach the student to be punctual.
-- Successfully link the student with the business community.
-- Build in each student's mind a sense of family with others.
-- Help student crystallize his or her dreams, visions and ideas.
-- Prepare student to become a leader (rather than a follower).

BOSS, founded in 1985 by wealthy business leaders and ministers of the Gospel Al & Hattie Hollingsworth, runs in Washington D.C., Atlanta, Las Vegas and Alaska, and in other countries including the Bahamas.
