Boxing News 2015: Fury Says He Will "Annihilate" Klitschko In Rematch, WBC World Champ Deontay Wilder Challenges Fury
World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is confident that he will be able to dominate former longtime champion Wladimir Klitschko, if and when their rematch happens. However, WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder says he will be inflicting pain on the newly crowned champion.
Fury was able to pull off an unexpected victory over "Dr. Steelhammer" during their title fight in late November in Dusseldorf, Germany. The younger British fighter outpointed Klitschko through twelve rounds of action, which subsequently earned him the unanimous decision verdict.
Fury's victory marked the end of Klitschko's nine-year title reign, and he now holds the IBO, IBF, WBO, and WBA titles. Klitschko had previously announced that he will be exercising the rematch clause which was stipulated in their pre-fight contract.
It does not seem to be a problem for Fury, who even claimed that it would be a disaster for the Ukrainian fighter when they face each other again.
"I played with him the first time and I'll annihilate him the second time," Fury said in a report by Shaun Brown of Boxingscene. "He can't do anything better than he's done."
The report adds that Fury is considering holding the rematch at his home country, at the Wembley Stadium in England.
Meanwhile, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder chimed on Tyson Fury's latest wave of success. "The Bronze Bomber," who remains undefeated (35-0 with 34 victories by knockout), last saw action in September against Frenchman Johann Duhaupas.
Wilder won the fight by an eleventh round technical knockout.
Both Wilder and Fury are bound to face each other, given that they are titleholders. And for the former, he has one main objective: to inflict as much damage on Fury, that he will be beyond recognition, even for his own mother.
"It adds a little fuel to the fire when they talk reckless, but I go in there and punish him," Wilder said in a report by TMZ Sports (through Boxingscene). "I consider myself like mafia style. I don't really exchange words too much. I just let my actions speak for my words."
