Boxing News 2016: Mexican Legend Juan Manuel Marquez Offers Stipulation for Potential Fight Against Miguel Cotto
Four-division world champion and Mexican boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez recently spoke about his next potential fight.
The 42-year old "El Dinamita", who is notably known for his emphatic knockout finish of Manny Pacquiao in 2012, last saw action in May 2014 against former world champion Mike Alvarado. Marquez won the said fight via unanimous decision.
Since then, he has kept himself on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury, which made him contemplate retirement. Marquez was in Las Vegas over the weekend for the rubber match between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley, where the former won the fight via unanimous decision.

Speaking to Boxingscene, Marquez first laid out the timetable of his return, which he says may happen in July or August, in Mexico City. He also noted that his knee is doing well, but would need to feel it out further in the gym during training.
"Right now, my knee feels good, but when I start training every day, we will see," Marquez said. One of the most storied rivalries in the sport of boxing has been the one between Mexico and Puerto Rico.
In November 2015, it was resurrected when Saul "Canelo" Alvarez fought against then WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. Canelo ended up winning the said bout via unanimous decision to become the new undisputed WBC world 160-pound champion.
The 35-year old Cotto has yet to speak about his next plans, as far as his fighting career goes. But according to Marquez, the Puerto Rican boxer had made his intentions known about a possible fight.
The Mexican boxer had welcomed the challenge, but prefers for the fight to take place at welterweight.
"Cotto wants to fight me at 147 (pounds). If Cotto gives the fight at 147 (pounds) and I feel good, let's do the fight," Marquez said.
Marquez currently holds a record of 56-701, with 43 wins by knockout. Cotto, on the other hand, holds a record of 40-5, with 33 wins by knockout.
