Watch This Boy With No Arms Play the Trumpet – With His Toes! (VIDEO)
Kids often want to take after their older siblings, so it was no surprise when 10-year-old Jahmir Wallace wanted to play the trumpet.
"My older sister used to play the piano, so I decided maybe I should try to learn an instrument," Wallace told WFMZ.
However, the Phillipsburg, N.J. fifth-grader was born without arms. Growing up, he learned to use his toes like fingers, and he approached the trumpet the same way. With the help of custom horn stand developed by his teacher, Desiree Kratzer, and a local music store, Wallace blew his first note on a trumpet in September.
On Friday, he joined 39 of his classmates to play in Green Street Elementary School's fifth grade winter concert, which you can see below. And Wallace has wise words of encouragement to anyone thinking about playing an instrument, or really, anything in life.
"Anyone out there who would like to try an instrument, go ahead and try it," he said. "If you like it, you like it. If you don't, you don't. Keep on trying."
