Brad Pitt Walking With A Cane After Falling
Brad Pitt has explained why he needs a cane for walking after he has been observed hobbling during several recent outings.
The 48-year-old actor was spotted with a cane and forced to explain the accessory while attending the Palm Springs International Film Festival's Annual Awards Gala on Saturday.
Pitt revealed that he injured a ligament in his knee while walking with 3-year-old daughter Vivienne earlier this month.
"I was carrying my daughter down the hill and I slipped," explained Pitt. "It was either her or me."
Pitt received honors during the event for his work in films "Moneyball" and "Tree of Life" during the events in Palms Spring, Calif., which he attended with longtime partner Angelina Jolie.
The couple share six children together ranging in age from three to 10-years-old. Speaking to reporters, Jolie assured everyone that "Vivie" was unharmed during the fall.
"She was absolutely fine," said Jolie, who then expressed her opinion of the cane.
"I like the cane," said the 36-year-old actress, who noted that the cane does not stop Pitt.
"He's not that type of guy. He does everything still…We are rushing back to the kids tonight," Jolie told reporters at the festival. "We have a birthday party in the morning with our daughter."
The couple met in 2005 while filming the romantic comedy, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Although not married, Pitt and Jolie have stated several times that their level of commitment to one another is more important than marriage.
During an interview with "Nightline" last month, Jolie explained, "Once you have six children, you're committed."
Recent reports indicate that the couple purchased a waterfall with surrounding property in Calif., and intend to build a new home on the land. Pitt and Jolie also have homes in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Cambodia, France, and Italy.
