Brandi Glanville- I 'Wanted to Be Molested as A Child'; 'Real Housewives' Star Apologizes After Backlash
Brandi Glanville said she "wanted to be molested as a child and was passed up" while interviewing two comedians for her podcast, "Brandi Glanville Unfiltered." The mother of two sons and star of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" received immediate backlash for the insensitive comments and later apologized for the statement.
Brandi Glanville's comments came during an interview with comedians Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine on Tuesday. In response to Florentine's experience with molestation, she decided to bring up her own non-experience in a joking manner.
"I was actually stalking you online, Jim, and we have something in common!" she said on the podcast. "I, too, wanted to be molested as a child and was passed up."
She joked that her sister's experience with being inappropriately touched when they were younger made her jealous.
"My sister got felt up by a principal, and nothing for me. He didn't even look at me sideways," Glanville continued.
Florentine asked if she was upset, and the "Real Housewives" reality star responded in kind.
"Yeah. Now looking back, I'm super-bummed. I was thinking, 'All this and nothing?' Super hot and they passed me up!" Glanville added.
Not long after the podcast, the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network got wind of the comments and slammed the mom for them.
"As any good parent would know, sexual abuse of children is nothing to laugh about. Sexual abuse should never be fodder for comedy," RAINN spokesperson Katherine Hull told Fox News in a statement.
Glanville's Twitter followers added to the backlash as well.
"The molestation thing is BEYOND disturbing and truly going way to far," posted one fan on the microblogging site.
"I feel sorry for your boys I hope [you] wouldn't want that for them," a user named Christy wrote.
After Glanville saw the response, she apologized and explained her reasoning behind the crass joke.
"I was interviewing stand up comedians for my podcast! Had to go through their stand up routines to know what 2 talk about!" she tweeted. "I'm sorry if I offended anyone with @Mrjimflorentine @PodcastOne interview my show is a COMEDY based entertainment show for adults I'm sorry."
