Brandi Glanville Oscar Dress Raises Eyebrows on the Red Carpet (PHOTO)
Brandi Glanville made her first ever Oscars appearance during Sunday night's 85th Academy Awards and while her attendance stunned some critics, it was her dress that set tongues wagging.
The 40-year-old "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star arrived in a floor-kength, flesh-colored mermaid style dress with a thigh-high slit and she acted as a fashion correspondent for the ABC network. Glanville was ABC's "special fashion correspondent" and provided commentary for the network's "On the Red Carpet" online broadcast.
"Chilling at the ... Oscars... Um yep!" Glanville tweeted to her 290,000 twitter followers.
Glanville's choice of attire left some fans questioning the appropriateness of her plunging neckline, with critics commenting that she would have looked more classy if she were more covered up. The dress, which was designed by the reality TV star herself, is from Glanville's new "My BrandB" line.
"Brandi Glanville's dress looked like it was seconds away from a wardrobe malfunction! Sorry but I was not a fan, I love her though!" Mary-anne tweeted.
"I love @BrandiGlanville but I kind of wanted to hike up her dress just a tad. She looked gorgeous though," lmf tweeted.
"@BrandiGlanville I thought your dress was amazing! A couple of more inches above the bust would have made it so classy #stillnice," Victoria Scott tweeted.
Other unexpected guests included Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland and actresses Olivia Munn and Kristin Chenoweth. Most had scored invites after accepting hosting gigs.
Glanville, who has evidently become the "Real Housewives" breakout star in recent months, was hailed a New York Times bestselling author on Wednesday following the success of her new book entitled "Drinking and Tweeting: And Other Brandi Blunders."
The book details her failed marriage to actor Eddie Cibrian, particularly his infamous affair with troubled singer LeAnn Rimes.
Despite enjoying a whirlwind of success in recent weeks, Glanville has faced a number of challenges relating to her ongoing feud with Rimes.
Aside from threats of a lawsuit over her book allegedly made by Cibrian, the single mom was recently slammed as a dishonest drunk by Rimes' publicist Marcel Pariseau.
"Brandi might consider getting some help with her drinking. If you watch her show, read her book and follow her tweets, she is constantly referring to her drinking," Pariseau reportedly wrote in a statement obtained by RadarOnline.com.
At one point during the book Glanville opens up about the time during which Cibrian left her and their two sons for Rimes, 30, and even claims that he left them broke, which appearred to have infuriated Pariseau.
"In reality [Eddie Cibrian] has two films in the can and recurring on two television shows. [Brandi] makes it sound like they are scraping by but read her book where she devotes a whole page to what she does to her face; fillers, botox, skin treatments, etc," he wrote.
Glanville's response to Pariseau's claims was simple but far from polite.
"Here is my response 2 the statement my ex's publicist put out about me this am 'Go F--- Urself' & u can quote me," she tweeted Feb. 21.
