Brandy Plays for Empty Stadium in South Africa 'Sulked After Two Songs...Walked Off'
R&B/pop singer Brandy recently walked out on a performance in a South African music festival.
Performing as the final act at the Nelson Mandela Sport and Culture Day in Johannesberg's First National Bank Stadium, she made it through two songs before furiously leaving the stage because there were only 40 fans left at the entire concert.
Celebrity Cafe reports the day was buzzing with people as guests were entertained by Rugby and Soccer matches, as well as music throughout. However, it was right before Brandy's performance that everyone started to leave.
The max capacity of the stadium is 90,000, and Brandy was scheduled to be a surprise performer. The only problem was there was no indicator to any of the attendees that there would be a performance so most people left thinking the event was over.
"Brandy [just] performed to an empty stadium. With the stadium lights on," Tweeted Kabomo, a South African musician. "People didn't know there was a concert after the games. No one knew Brandy was around. Maybe a 40 people audience...She sulked after two songs and walked off."
Even the television coverage tuned to another broadcast, as they were unaware of the singer's performance.
"Brandy performing for the chairs!" a concert-goer Tweeted according to the Guardian. "Brandy is going to perform for herself and Mbaks only."
