'Breaking Bad' Season Premiere Wows Fans
Last night's fifth season premiere of AMC's "Breaking Bad" has left fans impressed and anxious for next week.
"Live Free or Die" kicked off with a bang Sunday, topping the social TV charts for the weekend with 123,361 Facebook and Twitter comments.
The opening scene in season five's first episode saw a mysterious flash-forward to Walt White's 52nd birthday alone in a Denny's restaurant before he buys a machine gun.

The episode foreshadows that the meth-selling character (portrayed by Bryan Cranston) may be headed toward a dark future. Last season saw the death of Gus, and "Live Free or Die" returned the show back to a more normal, familiar series of events. Jesse, Mike, and Walt move to New Hampshire where they confront a threatening issue of the police obtaining video footage of their drug involvement.
"Yeah b----, magnets," exclaimed Jesse as a suggestion for solving the problem and ruining the tapes.
Walt's enormous ego remains, and his clear contentment is obvious- Gus is dead, the DEA is off their trail, and there is no competition left. Moreover, his family life has improved when he tells his wife Skyler (portrayed by Anna Gunn) that he forgives her for the past.
During last week's Comic Con in San Diego, "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan explained the character of Walt.
"Somebody said to me once, 'It is possible for 'Breaking Bad' to have a happy ending,'" said Gilligan. "Perhaps the happy ending would be for him to die. He's become so toxic and cancerous, maybe that's the way it's supposed to go."
"Brilliant season premiere of breaking bad last night," wrote Tom. "If you're not watching this show, you're not living."
"Breaking Bad Season 5 could not have started better," posted Chris. "Incredible."
Rob posted, "Breaking Bad is a masterpiece of television," while Amelia joked, "Make sure to talk about Breaking Bad some more so I know who the cool people are."
"Breaking Bad" will be split into two parts: the first eight episodes will air this summer, while the second half will be shown next year.
