Brendan Fraser Sues Movie Producers for $2 Million

Brendan Fraser, the longstanding Hollywood actor, has filed a lawsuit against movie producer Todd Moyer over a film the two agreed to make last year, but has yet to materialize.

Fraser filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court stating that movie producer Todd Moyer, who had hired him to be in "The Legend of William Tell: 3D" in the beginning of last year, promised the actor the movie would begin shooting in October of 2011, but has yet to begin filming.

Fraser explained that he was fully committed to participating in the film and sticking to the shooting schedule; he even passed on some other very lucrative movie opportunities so that he would be able to be available for "The Legend of William Tell: 3D."

According to the lawsuit, Fraser noted that Moyer was having difficulty keeping to the shooting schedule because of financing problems. The movie is still considered to be in pre-production and is listed as such on IMDb.

In Fraser's contract, the actor is guaranteed to a $2.25 million payment, which is not based on whether or not the film is produced. The actor is claiming the delay in production has also cost him additional damages and is seeking a total of $3 million in the suit.

Moyer has come out and stated that he was not familiar with the pending litigation.

"This is the first I have heard of this lawsuit. As we told Mr. Fraser's reps, we are ready, willing and able to make the movie for the September 3rd start date. [Producer] Julius Nasso and I have the movie fully financed," according to TMZ.

Moyer added: "Unfortunately, Mr. Fraser does not seem to be interested in making the movie as a 2D film as the producers intend to do. This is not a contractual decision Mr. Fraser has the ability to make."
