Brett Favre to Return to the Packers?

After a messy break up, it appears Green Bay Packer legend, Brett Favre, may reunite with his former team.

CEO and president of the Packers, Mark Murphy, likes the idea of bringing the future hall of famer back.

"We want to have [Favre] back in the family," he told FOXSportsWisconsin this week. "We're hopeful to have [Favre] back in the fold and get him back involved in the organization soon."

Murphy also commented on the possibility of retiring the quarterback's number 4 jersey at Lambeau Field soon.

"It's got to be the right time for him and us," Murphy said. "That will happen."

The CEO spoke on current Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and Favre presenting together at the NFL Honors show.

"I thought he and Aaron jointly presenting the Comeback Player of the Year Award was a great first step," Murphy said reports FOXSportsNetWisconsin. "We're hopeful to have (Favre) back in the fold and get him back involved in the organization soon."

The bad blood stemmed from Favre wanting to resign with the Packers after retiring and then changing his mind. Rodgers was named the starting quarterback, giving no place for Favre to return to, so he was then traded to the Jets. Following his season in New York, he joined the Minnesota Vikings, a big rival of the Packers.

Rodgers acknowledged on his Wisconsin radio show in February that Favre wanted to move on.

"I thought it was good timing to just let the fans know, to let Brett know, let's move forward. Let's heal things up and move forward," the star QB said. "It's important, I think, to make sure that he's recognized for all the accomplishments that he's achieved in our organization especially. He's still very dear to many of our fans for the things that he's done for the Packers on the field. You can never take that away."
