Bride Turns Canceled Wedding Reception Into Mother's Day Celebration With Underprivileged Kids
A wedding was supposed to take place on Saturday, May 7, but that was before the bride canceled the event after some issues that she could not agree with surfaced.
According to New York Post, the bride, who is identified as Yiru Sun, called off her wedding with her fiancé two months ago because she refused to sign the proposed prenuptial agreement.
But since deposits have already been made for the reception, the Corporate Vice President at New York Life Insurance decided to turn things around by celebrating the day in a heartwarming way. As detailed in Cosmopolitan, Sun turned her $8,000 reception deposit into a pre-Mother's Day lunch for 60 needy kids and their families.

Daily Mail also said that Sun made the event happen with the help of Salvation Army and Inwood House, who were the ones who looked for the guests to join in the special kind of celebration. Donning her white gown, Sun, a Princeton graduate, welcomed her guests with gladness in her heart.
She may have been heartbroken over the cancelation of her wedding, but her joy in giving the kids and their family a nice experience is incomparable. "I cannot be the princess of my wedding day, but I can give the kids a fairy tale," Sun stated in an interview.
The event took place at the Harold Pratt House at East 68th Street and Park Avenue. The guests were treated to a lavish dining experience and some music and fun for the kids like face paint, ice pops and balloons.
Sun also inspired everyone in the room with her life story. Aside from being a single mom to a six-year-old, Sun said that she grew up poor in China. When she went to America, she worked hard to reach her dreams and got a scholarship for a graduate degree at Princeton.
The guests were very happy and thankful for Sun's invitation. One of the guests even said that what she did was special and a selfless act.
