Brielle Shooting: Sand Bar Shooting Leaves Woman in Critical Condition, Suspect Not Yet Arrested (VIDEO)
A Brielle shooting has left one woman in critical condition early on Tuesday morning following an incident at the Sand Bar restaurant in Brielle in Monmouth County.
The shooting took place in the parking lot to the restaurant, according to reports, and left a 35 year old woman critically injured after she was struck by a single gunshot.
Authorities have confirmed that no one had been arrested by Tuesday lunchtime as a result of the late-night shooting.
The Brielle shooting took place at about 1 a.m. early on Tuesday, and sparked a strong police reaction, who have commenced a large manhunt for the suspect in the Point Pleasant neighborhood.
According to News 12 New Jersey, police were seen knocking on doors near the Bay Point Harbor Condominiums in Point Pleasant Borough.
Rumors emerged that authorities were looking for the owner of the Sand Bar, who could be the suspect in the shooting incident. However, officials have not released any name of the person they are searching for, or whether they are sure that person was the shooter in the incident.
The victim, who was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, has not been identified publicly by authorities.
A tweet by New Jersey 101.5 just before lunchtime on Tuesday reported that authorities had "contained" a suspect in a local residence. The Twitter post stated: "SAND BAR SHOOTING UPDATE: http://nj1015.com/shooting-reported-in-brielle/ … Victim is 35, female, in critical but stable condition. Suspect is "contained" in a home."
Reporter Marisa Brahney has posted on Facebook: "It has been so strange to cover a shooting and suspect search in Brielle and Point Pleasant Beach this morning– neighbors at both scenes are telling us police identified the suspect they were looking for as the owner of the Sand Bar."
She added that the victim was in critical condition and is believed to have also been a worker at the Sand Bar. She wrote: "The woman shot is 35, she's in critical condition and witnesses who performed first aid on her until paramedics arrived say she also worked at the Sand Bar. We have another live report coming up at noon."
