Brielle Shooting: Suspect in Custody After SWAT Team Raid in NJ
Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the Brielle, N.J. shooting that took place early Tuesday morning, leaving one woman critically injured.
Law enforcement official have confirmed that a suspect that police believe is connected to the Brielle shooting that took place early Tuesday morning, is now in custody. The name of the suspect was not released, according to the Associated Press.
The suspect was discovered barricaded in a Point Pleasant home where he was surrounded by a SWAT team and taken into custody. Police believe the man may be responsible for shootings and critically injuring a 35-year-old woman outside of the Sand Bar restaurant in Ocean County. The name of the female victim has also not been released. Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Charles Webster says the woman was shot once.
"Police were knocking on doors near the Bay Point Harbor Condominiums in Point Pleasant Borough," News 12 New Jersey reported before the suspect was taken into custody. "Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey the man police say they were looking for is the owner of the Sand Bar."
The victim was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, according to the report. The shooting led to a standoff, prompting police to shut down the streets.
The Sand Bar is a seafood restaurant located off of the Manasquan River. It recently came under new ownership, according to locals who dine at the restaurant. Other details regarding the shooting have not yet been released.
