'Bright' Latest News: Netflix Releases First Teaser Trailer
Online streaming service Netflix has debuted the first trailer of its upcoming movie "Bright" during the telecast of the Oscars on Sunday, Feb. 26.
"Bright" is the upcoming movie project of "Suicide Squad" director David Ayer and stars "Suicide Squad" star Will Smith, "Exodus: Gods and Kings" actor Joel Edgerton and "Prometheus" actress Noomi Rapace.
According to a synopsis published by Coming Soon, "Bright" is set in an alternate present-day in which humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time. It follows two cops from two different backgrounds – a human named Ward (Smith) and an orc (Edgerton) – as they embark on a routing night patrol and find themselves in a situation that threatens to alter the future of their world as they know it.
While they battle with their personal differences and fight off an onslaught of enemies, the two cops must work together to protect a young female elf and a long-forgotten relic which could lead to the destruction of the world should it land in the wrong hands.
The trailer of the upcoming film lasts for around 30 seconds and does not give away too much details about the movie's plot. It opens with Smith's character driving around the city. As the song "This Land is Your Land" plays in the background, the audience is given the impression that the city could be on the verge of chaos especially with the visible police presence in the street.
Later on, the song is suddenly cut, followed by a series of images featuring fantastical creatures and a scene in which Smith can be seen wielding a rusty sword.
"I'm assuming this doesn't end well," Smith says at the end of the clip.
The film is written by Max Landis, with Ayer, Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless serving as its producers.
"Bright" is scheduled to hit Netflix sometime in December.
