'Bringing Up Bates' Season Finale: Family Plans a Birthday Surprise for Gil (Video)
The UP Original Series "Bringing Up Bates" is wrapping up the first season tonight with the Bates kids planning a special birthday celebration for their father Gil, according to a brand new clip from the finale.
A larger-than-life family, the Bates's include Gil and Kelly Jo as well as their 19 children, one grandchild, and more on the way. "Bringing Up Bates," which has been compared to TLC's "19 Kids & Counting," became an immediate sensation upon its debut on UP TV in Jan., and fans of show are awaiting the season finale airing tonight.
In a sneak peek at the episode, the Bates children are organizing a party in honor of Gil's 50th birthday. While the kitchen is stocked full with plates, cups, drinks, chips and other snacks, the kids scramble to decorate the house and rehearse skits intended for Gil and other guests at the party.

"It was feeling a little overwhelming," Carlin Bates tells the camera during the clip.
News of the "Bringing Up Bates" season one finale follows the announcement that the television series was renewed for a second season on UP TV.
