British Columbia Police Admit 'De-feet': Canada's Waters are Filled with Detached Feet
British Columbia is now a victim of a weird-but true-story as the region is gaining a strange reputation for human appendages washing ashore.
The Vancouver Sun is reporting British Columbia recently recovered its ninth stray foot since 2007 to wash ashore, as well as another appendage last Friday on the Shore of Sasamat Lake.
Some news reports have 12 feet listed as washing ashore in the Canadian region.
"The case of the mysterious feet has vexed authorities and the public, with details of the latest find differing from its predecessors in two ways," said the CBC.
A child at camp near a body of fresh water found the most recent foot last Friday. The first six feet were found in saltwater and were reportedly inside running shoes. The latest foot was inside a boot, according to various media outlets.
Social network users have referenced the feet-washing-ashore incidents in the punch line of many jokes.
One Facebook user wrote: "When questioned about the appendages, the police chief responded with 'Well, we're still searching for answers, but one thing we do know is that there's something weird 'afoot' here,' and another quote 'Either that or ... eventually they'll have to admit 'de-feet' when they can't catch the culprits.'"
Although an apparent issue, law enforcement is not too concerned with the missing appendages. Medical experts believe the feet were separated from their bodies by natural causes, and do not suspect foul play being involved.
