Britney Spears Accused of Breaking Back-Up Dancer's Nose, Pop Star Being Sued
Britney Spears is facing allegations that she broke the nose of one of her back-up dancers who is suing the "Piece of Me" singer over the injury.
Dancer Dawn Noel filed a lawsuit against Spears on Monday, May 5 after the "disheveled and confused" pop star hit her in the face during a dance rehearsal, according to TMZ. The alleged incident took place during the video shoot for "Work B----" back in August 2013, but the details of the incident are just surfacing now.
Noel claims that she and other dancers had been working for several hours when Spears showed up to the shoot "in a disheveled and confused state" last year. Unpracticed and out-of-sync with the other dancers, Spears failed to learn the dance steps and even hit Noel during an unbalanced twirl. Noel says the force broke her nose, and that everyone present at the time heard a cracking sound. Moreover, after being overwhelmed with pain, Spears simply offered an apology and did not postpone the rest of the rehearsal.
The battery and negligence lawsuit also highlights that after a half hour, Noel sought medical attention when a doctor told her she had a nasal cone fracture that would require surgery. Consequently, Spears' team agreed to pay the medical bills, but after months of waiting, Noel was snubbed of the compensation altogether.
"She's been very patient and I don't understand why they wouldn't just do the right thing," said an attorney for Dawn Noel, according to Philly.com.
The attorney, Sark Ohanian, added that the injury had inhibited his client's professional life and has also caused problems with breathing and sinus issues before noting that dancers do not have a union to provide insurance for accidents similar to hers. Furthermore, the lawyer said that his client "isn't looking to get rich off this," but only wants to pay her medical bills.
Meanwhile, Spears nor her team have offered comment on the lawsuit as of Thursday, May 8.
