Britney Spears Songs to Be Lip-Synched at Las Vegas Show? 'Zero Truth,' Says Rep
Britney Spears' songs at her upcoming Las Vegas show could be lip-synched, according to reports. Although rumors claim that the 32-year-old singer has not sung anything live in some time, a representative for the songstress slammed the reports, saying they have "zero truth" in them.
Britney Spears songs during the show will range from 21 of her greatest hits along with new material from her upcoming album. The Vegas show, "Britney: Piece of Me," is already confirmed for 16 shows at the Sin City Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino and starts Dec. 27. However, some claim the tickets, which are priced between $59 and $179, are hardly worth it because the star isn't singing live.
"Britney does not sing. She is being paid a lot of money to lip-sync," a source told The New York Daily News, highlighting that Spears will earn $15 million a year for the show. "Her fans are none the wiser, but it is disingenuous of her to take their cash and not deliver a proper performance."
"She hasn't sung live for a couple of years," the insider continued. "If the crowd thinks they are being cheated then there is likely to be an uproar."
Indeed, Spears has been accused of lip-synching before. In the 2009 "Circus" tour in Australia, the "Toxic" singer's fans walked out and demanded refunds, upset that she wasn't really singing.
Spears representative has slammed the reports, pointing out that Spears has been preparing for some time- she has posted pictures of herself slimming down on Instagram and working on her latest album.
"Britney will be singing. As stated before, she is in vocal training- has been for months, and she is and has been working with a choreographer for her Vegas 'Britney: Piece of Me' show," the rep explained. "Her new album, which is out Dec. 3, will also represent this. Any source to the contrary holds zero truth."
Spears also discussed her time in the studio, revealing that she worked Miley Cyrus on her latest album, Bangerz, in addition to working on her own.
"My manager (Larry Rudolph) is her manager and she's been working on album lately and I've been working on an album, so we hit the studio together a lot, and she's a cool girl," Spears told E! News.
