Broadway Actor Gives Heartfelt Defense of Mom Who Took Autistic Child to Show
Some actors really know how to give the people what they want. And other actors know how to stand up for someone else regardless of the audience's reaction.
Kelvin Moon Loh is a professional actor who's part of the cast of a Broadway production of the classic musical "The King And I."
At a performance back in September a mother brought her autistic child to the show. As the child occasionally misbehaved, some in the audience demanded they be removed.
Loh would have none of it. Taking to social media the actor posted a lengthy and profound message on Facebook defending the right of the mother and child to be there.
"For her to bring her child to the theater is brave. You don't know what her life is like. Perhaps, they have great days where he can sit still and not make much noise because this is a rare occurrence. Perhaps she chooses to no longer live in fear, and refuses to compromise the experience of her child," passionately wrote Loh.
"Maybe she scouted the aisle seat for a very popular show in case such an episode would occur. She paid the same price to see the show as you did for her family. Her plan, as was yours, was to have an enjoyable afternoon at the theatre and slowly her worst fears came true."
Loh's message has over 32,000 shares and 114,000 likes. A powerful message, it is very much worth reading and can be accessed here.
