Brooke Burke-Charvet Talks About Embracing Aging
Brooke Burke-Charvet has shattered the belief that aging means not feeling your best, both mentally and physically.
The "Dancing With The Stars" host celebrated her 41st birthday this year, yet she still makes headlines for her youthful appearance.
"The 40s are a reality check," Burke-Charvet told Health magazine. "I would like to slow down my aging process, but I don't want to look like a pumpkin, all swollen!"
Furthermore, the television personality has given up trying to look younger.
"You have to embrace Mother Nature a little," said the model and actress. "I'm a woman. I'm a wife. I'm a mother of four. I don't want to look like a 25-year-old anymore. I want to be my best healthy self."
Burke-Charvet has been married to "Baywatch" star David Charvet for over a year and the couple shares two children. The "DWTS" host also has two children from a previous marriage.
The model also revealed some fashion advice that will also brighten moods and improve well-being.
"As a rule, I don't buy much black anymore," said Charvet. "I want bright, happy colors. They just feel good."
While Burke-Charvet celebrates her health now, the television host suffered a cancer scare last year and underwent a thyroidectomy. Ever since, the model has promoted cancer awareness and the value of regular medical care in early detection.
"Getting my [thyroid cancer] diagnosis through a routine physical was pretty shocking," she explained. "[It's] a pretty important message for everyone to just be responsible enough to get regular checkups, to take care of your health, to be a good patient and to follow up."
Burke-Charvet returns to the air on ABC Monday, March 18 with the season premiere of "Dancing With The Stars."
