Although they were divorced 14 years ago, Shields poignantly recalled her split from Agassi while speaking to celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who wrote the book "It Doesn't Have to Be That Way: How To Divorce Without Destroying You Family Or Bankrupting Yourself."

"I am divorced," started Shields. "And mine was very quick and relatively easy but it's a very interesting thing because he- quote, unquote- did say to me, 'Be happy that we don't have children or I would not have made this easy for you.'"

Then the 48-year-old actress laughingly added, "And therein lies why I'm not there anymore."

In 2001, Shields went on to remarry television writer Chris Henchy, with whom she shares two daughters; Rowan, 10, and Grier, 7.

Meanwhile, in 2009, Agassi offered his own take on his split from Shields in an autobiography where he candidly revealed doubt about the marriage on their wedding day.

During an interview where he was promoting the book, the professional tennis player cited immaturity as the reason for the divorce.

"I think at that time in my life I couldn't be married to anyone," he said on the "Today" show. "I think timing is really important. You need in a marriage, two people who understand themselves… and I certainly didn't understand myself."

Nevertheless, in a joint statement following their split, Shields and Agassi said they had "the utmost love and respect for one another."
