Brooklyn Tabernacle Presents 'The Rescue': True Stories of How Wall Street Broker, Party Girl, Drug Addict Find Jesus Christ

Famed New York church The Brooklyn Tabernacle presents "The Rescue," a powerful production about the lives of five people who in their deepest time of despair were rescued, on major TV networks and on DVD this month.

"The Rescue" tells the true stories of five people from different walks of life who all find themselves in hopeless situations. Viewers are walked through each of the individual's feelings of pain and despair as they struggle to find a way out of the harmful situations they are in. "The Rescue" aspires to encourage viewers all over the world with the hopeful and redemptive message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The testimonies serve as relatable real-life stories of universal struggles that many in this day-and-age face. In the hour-long film, a Wall Street broker, a party girl, a religious extremist, a drug addict, and a hardened thug are highlighted as they describe their journey from darkness into light.

All of them share about their out-of-control lives and discuss drowning in discouragement. As the movie goes on, it's clear that there is a God-shaped void in each of their hearts and they all have wounds so deep that no human, ritual or substance could heal.

Besides the one-hour version, "The Rescue" also comes in a condensed 30-minutes version. In the month of May alone, "The Rescue" was streamed on the Oxygen Network, BET, Word Network, FOX (New York and Los Angeles), and IND WCUU TV (Chicago).

As supporters watched the televised model of the film, many on Facebook expressed the impact the testimonies have made on their lives.

"Watching this touched my spirit unlike anything I've encountered. Their testimonies shows how God can change our lives no matter what we are going through. I hope that my Facebook friends and family will watch The Rescue," one commenter writes.

Another said, "Awesome testimonies of the power of God's transforming love in yielded hearts & lives."

Also featured in "The Rescue" is Brooklyn Tabernacle's six- time Grammy Award winning choir, singing songs off of their 29th album, Pray. Led by Carol Cymbala, the choir consists of over 200 members and has recorded over 200 songs to date.

The Brooklyn Tabernacle, pastored by Brooklyn native Jim Cymbala, has always managed to stay under the radar despite its massive success and impact.

"The Rescue" DVD is available to order at therescue.nyc, and people can also receive a free gift CD of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir's Pray when they order the DVD. Pray features 13 original uplifting songs that echo the film's message of hope, and joy and the rescued life.
