Bryce Harper Flips Out After Getting Beaned - Benches Clear (VIDEO)

Up-and-coming baseball star Bryce Harper was the subject of a benches clearing incident at last nights ball game between the Washington Nationals and Atlanta Braves game.

Harper was hit by a pitch in the thigh in the fifth inning by Braves pitcher Julio Teheran, causing the outfielder to gesture toward the pitcher and mouth off a couple of choice words. As he walked to first base, the umpire and Braves catcher Brian McCann held Harper back, trying to impede him from charging the mound.

Both team's benches cleared and even the members of the bullpen ran in from the outfield. There was no pushing, fighting, or even the mixing of words. Everyone was there for support of their teammate, it seemed.

Normally, a hit by pitch of that nature would not warrant an all-out meltdown with benches clearing, but this appeared to be intentional. In Harper's previous at bat he crushed a homerun off of Teheran, and looked at it for awhile, but he did not gaze long enough to really be too cocky about it.

In his next at bat he was beamed with the first pitch he saw-- a tad fishy-- and Harper knew it.

"Uh, I hit that ball pretty far off him, so no, not really," Harper responded about being hit to reporters.

"I was just trying to get in there," Teheran responded to reporters. "I don't want to make a mistake like I did with the homer. That's how I hit him."

Former Braves legend Chipper Jones tweeted that he thought Harper was plunked because he took too long to walk to first upon hitting his homerun.

"I mean, 14 1/2 games down and I need to be in the lineup," Harper said when asked if he thought about charging the mound. "He's got to do what he's got to do. And it's part of the game, like I said. If I walk-off on somebody and he wants to drill me, I'll let him drill me and I'll stand on first base and say some choice words and get over it."
