Bubba Watson Withdraws From Wells Fargo Championship for Family Time

Bubba Watson, 33-year-old winner of the 2012 Masters Tournament, was forced to withdraw from the upcoming Wells Fargo Championship on Tuesday due to family issues.

Watson reportedly withdrew from the competition in order to spend more time with his family. After winning the Masters Tournament on April 8, Watson has had limited time with his wife and new one-month-old son, Caleb.

Jens Beck, Watson's manager, told USA TODAY Sports that the golfer's family was his main priority.

"It's all about Caleb and Angie," Beck said. "He wants to spend time with them."

Still, Beck said Watson was disappointed that he could not join the championship that is scheduled to take place from May 3-6.

"He really wanted to play. It's one of his favorite tournaments of the year," Beck said. "But family calls."

Watson has been vocal about his family and faith being a top priority in his life. On the golfer's Twitter account, his biography describes him as "Christian. Husband. Daddy. Pro Golfer."

Watson, who recently adopted Caleb with his former WNBA playing wife Angie Ball, decided to commit his life to Jesus Christ after dating Ball.

The golfer decided to get baptized with his wife in 2004 as a student at the University of Georgia.

"We wanted to be Christ followers," Watson said. "We wanted to do the right thing. We started turning to the Lord for our decisions."

The 2012 Masters champion recently took to Twitter to express his excitement for the opportunity to spend time with his new family and thank God for his blessings.

"Be home in 10 mins, now 10 days at home with [Angie] & my baby boy!!" Watson tweeted. "God is good!"

Although Watson will not compete in the Wells Fargo Championship, he will participate in the upcoming Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana in Avondale next week.
