Buffalo Bills NFL Trade and Roster Rumors: Team Grants Anquan Boldin Permission to Seek a Trade

Three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Anquan Boldin is not ready to call it a career, but he doesn't seem to be interested in playing with the team he signed with in the offseason.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Boldin has expressed interest in playing this season and the Buffalo Bills have given his agent, Tom Condon, the permission to contact other teams to see if they are interested in acquiring him in a trade.

"Club grants you limited permission to speak with other NFL teams for the sole purpose of discussing a trade for Anquan," the Bills wrote in a letter obtained by Schefter.

Boldin decided to retire less than two weeks after he signed a one-year deal with the Bills in August because he wanted to focus on social activism in the wake of the Charlottesville rally. However, reports have indicated that he has kept the door open for a possible return this season.

Boldin has proven that he is still a productive player with his solid play last season, so he will probably draw some interest in the trade market.

Meanwhile, Bills general manager Brandon Beane confirmed that they are not planning to release Boldin if he can't find a team interested in trading for his rights. He also noted that he hasn't spoken with the wide receiver about the possibility of playing with the Bills.

"We really didn't go there," Beane said on Friday, via ESPN.

"It was more expressed that if there was a suitor closer to home, which is Florida - that's the way it was explained to us and I have not personally spoken to Anquan about it. His representatives reached out. So if we can find something that's a win-win, we will do it but other than that, no, I don't expect anything to happen," he continued.

Well, it seems that Boldin probably won't be playing this season if the Bills can't move him before the trade deadline next Tuesday.
