Buffalo Bills NFL Trade Rumors: Bills, Tyrod Taylor Agree to Rework Contract

The Buffalo Bills have finally made a decision. Starting Quarterback Tyrod Taylor isn't going anywhere.

The Bills have announced that Taylor has agreed to a restructured deal that will keep him in Buffalo. The terms of the contract were not released by the team.

Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News has reported that the contract will be for five years and it also includes a seven-million-dollars signing bonus. After the second season, the contract will allegedly run on a year-to-year basis. Citing a source, Carucci also revealed that Taylor salary cap hit will drop from $16 million to just under $10 million.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the restructured deal is for two years, $30.5 million with $15.5 million guaranteed. He also revealed that Taylor will make $14.5 million this season and $16 million in 2018.

If they hadn't agreed on a restructured deal by March 11, Taylor would have received $30.75 million in guaranteed money.

Meanwhile, his teammates are happy to have him back and Bills coach Sean McDermott is also glad they are keeping him.

"We are excited about the opportunity to keep Tyrod with the Bills. I've gotten a chance to know Tyrod and study him over the past several weeks and he is both a great person and competitor. Doug and I are confident this was best move for the Bills at this time," Bills coach Sean McDermott said in a statement.

A number of teams are reportedly planning to pursue Taylor if the Bills release him, but they would have to go back to the drawing board. It's good to see McDermott and general manager Doug Whaley on the same page. Now they don't have to look for a new quarterback on the free agency market because pickings are slim right now.

Taylor spent the first four years of his career with the Baltimore Ravens before he joined the Bills in 2015.
