Burger King Delivery Expands to More US Cities

Now you really can "have it your way." Burger King has announced that it is expanding its delivery availability to three major U.S. cities: Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco.

"If you're ready to have a delicious BURGER KING meal brought directly to your doorstep, you've come to the right place. At BURGER KING, we promise to deliver you freshly prepared and tasty food. Our unique packaging has freshness locked down: the burgers will be hot, the fries will be crispy, and the lettuce will stay cool," Burger King's website states.

Last year the fast-food chain debuted its delivery service in Washington, D.C. as well as Houston, New York, and Miami. It's a unique aspect to the fast-food industry, given that major competitors such as McDonald's, Taco Bell and Wendy's do not yet offer delivery to clients. This service is still in the test stages, especially in the latest batch of cities.

20 restaurants are participating in Chicago and Los Angeles, while 15 will begin delivering to customers in San Francisco. Right now, there are only 7,500 Burger King restaurants in the United States; another 6,500 are abroad.

Burger King has struggled to carve out its own space in the race for top ratings and income. McDonald's has more locations across the nation, and even though it does not offer delivery, is one of the highest-grossing corporations in the country. Wendy's often comes in second or third to the McDonald's industry.

Burger King is also offering a loyalty reward program, with customers receiving a free item once they place three orders for delivery. The chain claims that customers have been "ecstatic" with the delivery service and have even "posted their praise on our website."

For now, only certain items are available for order, and customers must place a $10 order in order to qualify for delivery. Orders can be taken online or via phone from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
