Business Owner Fires Employees Over Obama Win; Koch Brothers to Follow Suit? (AUDIO)
A Las Vegas business owner immediately terminated 22 of his 114 employees over President Obama's reelection Tuesday after previously warning them that he would do so unless former Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney won.
The unidentified business owner, who used the alias "David," admitted to threatening his staff's jobs by making it clear that an Obama victory would prompt company job cuts, according to CBS local news. He insists that he never directly asked them to vote for the Romney/Ryan campaign.
"I had to lay off 22 people today to make sure that my business is gonna thrive and I'm gonna be around for years to come," David told Host Kevin Wall on 100.5 KXNT.
"I explained to them a month ago that if Obama gets in office that the regulations for Obamacare are gonna hurt our business ... I said you do what you feel like in your heart you need to do, but I'm just letting you know as a warning this is things I have to think of as a business owner," he went on.
President Obama won in the crucial swing states of Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Virginia, ultimately winning 50.2 percent of the popular vote. Romney won 48.2 percent of the popular vote, according to the polls.
Romney had previously vowed to repeal Obamacare if he were elected, and his loss has raised concerns about the potential of mass layoffs being made in response to President Obama's reelection.
"I've done my share of educating my employees ... Elections do have consequences, but so do choices ... you watch what's gonna happen. I'm just one guy with 114 employees- well was 114 employees- watch what happens in the next six months," David explained. "The Dow alone lost 314 points today. There's a tsunami coming and if you didn't think this election had consequences, just wait."
David, however, is not the only business owner who admittedly made job cut threats over the 2012 election. The world renowned billionaire Koch brothers also reportedly threatened to fire a number of their 50,000 employees if they dared to vote for President Obama.
The elite pair, who donated millions to the Romney/Ryan campaign, previously sent out a voter information packet to 45,000 of its Georgia Pacific subsidiary explaining that "many of our more than 50,000 US employees and contractors may suffer the consequences" if they vote for Democrats in the 2012 election. It is not yet clear whether they have started implementing any company cuts.
