Calif. Group Protests Decision to Honor 'Sexual Predator' Harvey Milk on US Postage Stamp
SaveCalifornia is protesting the U.S. Postal Service's decision to feature LGBT activist Harvey Milk on a special commemorative stamp next year. The pro-family group is calling for the boycott of the stamp, calling Milk a "sexual predator," based on his biography.
The Postal Service's choice of the San Francisco homosexual activist is "a sign of America's immorality," the group said in a statement.
Milk is the first LGBT activist to be featured on a U.S. postage stamp.
The group said it had been warning parents about "Harvey Milk Day," observed in California public schools to honor this "very dishonorable man." SB 572, which established the day, is one of 10 sexual indoctrination laws in the state's government school system, "teaching children to approve of unhealthy and unnatural sex practices," SaveCalifornia added.
On Harvey Milk Day, participating schools make children perform exercises remembering his life. Kids can be taught to support anything Milk supported, the group said.
Citing Milk's biography, The Mayor of Castro Street: The Life and Times of Harvey Milk, by "homosexual reporter" Randy Shilts, SaveCalifornia noted he repeatedly engaged in adult-child sex and advocated for polygamous homosexual relationships.
"Harvey always had a penchant for young waifs with substance abuse problems," writes Matt Barber in a column on WND.com, quoting from Milk's biography. The biographer was a close friend to Milk.
"Harvey Milk's only claim to fame is that he was the first openly homosexual candidate to be elected to public office (San Francisco city commissioner)," the author says. "His chief cause was to do away with the Judeo-Christian sexual ethic."
Barber describes Milk as a 33-year-old man "who both had and axiomatically acted upon a deviant sexual appetite for underage, drug-addicted, runaway boys."
Barber's comment was criticized in the mainstream media. "[But] not one of the dozen-or-more publications that reported on my comments even challenged their veracity," he points out. "Not one attempted to refute or deny that Harvey Milk was, in fact, a pederast and a sexual predator."
In his article, Barber also quotes SaveCalifornia founder Randy Thomasson as noting, "Explaining Milk's many flings and affairs with teenagers and young men, Randy Shilts writes how Milk told one 'lover' why it was OK for him to also have multiple relationships simultaneously: 'As homosexuals, we can't depend on the heterosexual model. … We grow up with the heterosexual model, but we don't have to follow it. We should be developing our own lifestyle. There's no reason why you can't love more than one person at a time.'"
Milk is the first openly gay man to hold political office in California. He was assassinated over a non-related political dispute by fellow Democrat Dan White in 1978.
