Call Her ‘Mama’ Spice: Mel B Gives Birth To A Girl
Former Spice Girls Melanie Brown gave birth to her third daughter early Friday morning. The pop singer was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital last night and could not wait to tell her fans the good news.
Brown took to Twitter saying, “Finally our baby arrives, Stephen nearly passed out, Phoenix screamed, I laughed so hard the baby popped out. She is just sooo amazing!!”
Brown and her husband, Stephen Belafonte, welcomed their first child together. A representative for the singer said that “both mom and baby are happy, health and doing well.”
"Scary Spice" has two daughters, 12-year-old Phoenix Chi from a previous marriage to Spice Girls back up dancer Jimmy Agulzar, and three-year-old Angel Iris from a relationship with actor Eddie Murphy.
Days before her delivery, Brown told an Australian radio station that her baby was past its due date and “coming out this week for sure.”
“Ideally, I want it to come naturally, but I’ve tried everything,” she continued. “I’ve tried the hot food, the this... the running, the sex, the violent-- I’ve tried it all and, it just seems to be stuck and hibernating in there getting bigger and bigger, so it’s coming out this week for sure.”
Former Spice Girls Emma Bunton congratulated Brown via Twitter saying, “Yeah!!! Well done Mummy! Lots of love. Xxx”
Brown thanked her fans and friends tweeting, “I wanna thank you ALL for your beautiful well wishes, it means a lot to me, you guys are the best, I am SOOOOOO blessed my heart is melting!!”
The singer even thanked her husband. “I didn't think it was possible but I love you even MORE now honey, we have a truly amazing family xxxx”
Brown’s baby girl is the latest addition to the Spice Girl baby clan. In May, Bunton gave birth to a boy and Victoria Beckham had her fourth child, a girl, in July.
Brown and Belafonte married in 2007 in Las Vegas. Belafonte, has a 6-year-old daughter, Giselle.
