'Call of Duty: Black Ops III' Release Sets New Record for UK Game Charts

Developer Treyarch's "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" has broken records of previous "Call of Duty" games in a UK game chart. The title has spent more week in the no. 1 spot in one of GFK Chart-Track's latest UK software charts.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops III" was released in November 2015. Since then, the title has spent 11 weeks at the top, seven weeks of which were in the first six weeks of 2016. It was dethroned momentarily by Warner Bros.' "Lego Marvel Avengers" when it released during week 4 of this year.

This makes "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" the only "Call of Duty" title to have held on to the no. 1 spot in GFK Chart-Track's list. The previous record belonged to "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," which spent nine consecutive weeks at no. 1 back in 2009. However, the game needs several more weeks to beat the all-time record holder, "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" with 18 weeks at no. 1 in 2000 and 2001.
