Call of Duty Ghosts 1080p Patch on PS4 Launch Date Improves Graphics of Campaign Mode
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be getting a PS4 day one patch that will bring the campaign mode from 720p to 1080p.
The game's producer, Activision, made that announcement to Polygon yesterday with Eurogamer originally reporting that only retail versions of the game will have campaign mode in 720p.
This information sort of goes against what the game's developer Infinity Ward said last month when Ghosts was announced to run 1080p on the PS4 and 720p on Xbox One. It is true that Ghosts will run on 1080p, but not after downloading the patch, so it is a bit deceiving.

However, and Activision spokesperson told Polygon that the 720p was a mistake caused by a "configuration error" in the retail version. "This has been addressed with a day-one software update. People will be able to download the day-one update when PlayStation 4 launches in their territory and play at native 1080p," the representative said.
The Xbox One admission of the 720p was made by Mark Rubin of Infinity Ward.
"Hey, been on the road last couple weeks so haven't had a chance to update, but wanted to confirm that for Xbox One we're 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we're native 1080p on PS4. We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both. Still on the road, but glad to see the great reception to Extinction. Can't wait for next week's launch," he Tweeted.
Call of Duty: Ghosts' early reviews so far have been mixed as many feel the game is just an updated clone of the last installment.
Many reviewers and gamers are also stating that Battlefield 4 "blows CoD out of the water" an owner of both games told CP. Another gamer, Mike Miley, told CP "you've played this one already" if you've played the previous installments. Mark Stein appears to be focused on other things: "GTA Online happened," he said.
The praise for the game is again the great online play and replayable ability that keeps fans of the game coming back. However, the innovation for the franchise is severely lacking as the game is just too similar to the last one.
The game was released for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U on November 5, and will arrive with the PS4 on Nov. 15 and the Xbox One on Nov. 22.
