'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3' Release: Game Shatters Sales Records
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" sales exceeded $400 million in the United States and Great Britain within 24 hours of its release midnight on Tuesday.
Over 13,000 stores worldwide opened up at midnight for the game's release. The game sold more in 24 hours than it's rival, "Battlefield 3", sold in a week, according to a Telegraph report.
The Chief Executive of Activision Blizzard Bobby Kotick said in press release: “We believe the launch of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" is the biggest entertainment launch of all time in any medium, and we achieved this record with sales from only two territories."

He also said the overall sales for the game series surpassed the box office sales or the "Star Wars and Lord of the Rings" film series.
"'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ had already sold more pre-orders than previous record holder, ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops,’" according to publisher Activision Blizzard. "Black Ops" sold more than 25 million copies, breaking the record set by "Modern Warfare 2."
The game started at $59.99. The series is also offering a $100 dollar version that comes with a year's subscription to the new "Call of Duty: Elite" online service.
The elite package was created to improve the game's multiplayer mode. It includes player and game statistics and network features on the web.
Scott Steinberg of consulting firm TechSavvy Global told the Detroit Free Press the elite package "promises to keep the game feeling fresh and new and relevant year-round."
"Instead of just selling you a one-shot product, they are selling you an entire service and the culture that comes with it," he added.
The game picks up where “Modern Warfare 2" left off, with Special Forces searching for Russian Terrorist Vladimir Marakov. The game takes place in locations around the world such as Paris, London and New York.
The game also made some additions to the Special Ops mode with 16 new objective based missions. There is also an option to team up online or play solo in every multiplayer map.
The game's kill streaks have also been revamped. There is also a gun progression feature that evolves your weapons over the course of the game.
