'Call of Duty: WW2' Loot Boxes Literally Drop From the Sky

"Call of Duty: WW2" will have their loot boxes dropping from the sky to better show off the random in-game rewards to fellow players, even in the middle of a firefight. It comes complete with three floating cards informing anyone nearby just what the player earned.

It's a scene that will become a common sight in "Call of Duty: WW2" battlefields everywhere, as a video on the game's Reddit community showed a sneak peek of the "feature" from one of the users playing a preview copy of the game.

Early observations on how these loot crates work also seem that they have been designed to be visible to everyone close enough to look, perfect for showing off. They come in the form of supply boxes that drops out of the sky, slamming into the ground in a dust of cloud that will be hard to miss.

Upon hitting the ground, three oversized cards fly out of the box to hover in the air, flipping around to show the in-game rewards complete with color flash and screen shake. Other players can't steal the box as well, while they can watch as this unrealistic display unfolds in mid-air.

Sledgehammer Games, the development studio creating "Call of Duty: WW2," insists that all the weapons and cosmetics from the supply drops will be cosmetic only, meaning that they will have no impact on gameplay, according to Eurogamer.

Players still wonder if the title will devolve to a play-to-win kind of game. At the very least, it breaks the immersion in the game.

"Nothing says 'WW2' to me like people running around on a beach trying to collect magical cards that teach them a new salute or make their gun turn purple," one user commented.
