'Call of Duty: WW2' News: Carentan Map Featured In Multiplayer
Get ready for a bit of nostalgia because a classic "Call of Duty" map will make its way to "Call of Duty: WW2." The Carentan map, first featured in the original game, will be available for season pass owners at launch.
The map was last seen in the series over a decade ago in 2005 as one of the multiplayer maps available to "Call of Duty 2," the first CoD title on the Xbox 360. Now, Activision has revealed that the map will make a comeback as a bonus for season pass owners.
Like most maps in CoD's World War 2 installments, the map was the setting of an actual battle from the war. Set in the French port town of Carentan, the map features the same architecture as one might see in films like Saving Private Ryan.
The battle was of the bigger Normandy Landings which paved the way for the Allied victory in Europe. Players must fight through the fortified streets and destroyed buildings in this war-torn town to take control of a strategic German stronghold.
While the map will first be available to "Call of Duty: WW2" season pass owners, Activision has not yet revealed if it will be made available to non-season pass owners. The publisher has not explicitly stated that it will be exclusive to those who own a pass. However, they have also not revealed it if any season pass content will be sold separately.
In the past, Activision has released pre-order and season pass content to the masses after a set period of time. They previously did this with the release of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" which means that it might be possible for the Carentan map as well.
The season pass currently includes four DLC (downloadable content) packs to be released consecutively throughout 2018. These include new missions, additional chapters in the Zombies mode, and more multiplayer maps. With this much content, it might be worth it to get one before the game's release.
"Call of Duty: WW2" is set to be released for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Nov. 3.
