'Call The Midwife' Season 5 spoilers, news: Trixie and Delia's road to recovery?
"Call The Midwife," BBC's hit period drama series about a group of nurses working in a nursing convent during the 1950s in London's East End, is now all set to return with a new season.
Season 4 of "Call The Midwife" had left fans on a sad note with some of the characters meeting some unfortunate mishaps. Delia (Kate Lamb) got into an accident while riding Patsy's (Emerald Fennell) bike, resulting in her suffering from amnesia. Meanwhile, Trixie (Helen George) began having addiction issues and had to be placed into a care program. The only silver lining was the marriage between Fred (Cliff Parisi) and Violet (Annabelle Apison).
The filming for Season 5 of "Call The Midwife" began in May and the cast even celebrated their return to the sets. Laura Main tweeted "Have had such a lovely first day back with everyone on 'Call the Midwife.' So glad to be getting to do more. Series 5, can't believe it!!"
According to Zap2It, the show can either feature Trixie and Delia struggling to recover from the events that happened to them during the last season or it could also do a time jump to a point in time where Delia has recovered from her accident and Trixie has gotten over her addiction.
Fans can also expect changes as the show's storyline delves further into the 1960s. In an Enstarz article published in May, actress Jenny Agutter says, "The series was very much about the beginning of the sixties, and with that, you see all the wonderful opportunities that people start to have; you have the NHS and you start to take things for granted."
Season 5 of "Call The Midwife" is set to be released in the UK in December 2015 and is expected to premiere in the United States in 2016.
