Cam Newton, the 25-year-old Carolina Panthers quarterback, is receiving prayers from his fellow NFL players after getting into a car accident that resulted in him fracturing bones in his lower back.

After the accident on Tuesday that resulted in Newton's truck being wrecked, the Panthers released an official statement about their QB's condition.

"Further testing revealed that Cam Newton has two transverse process fractures in his lower back and no further internal injuries," the Panthers said in a statement obtained by ESPN. "Right now we have thought about Cam's well-being and we understand there was someone else in the other car who was injured," the team said. "We just hope that they're all OK."
