Canadian Christians Hold Motivational Evangelism Conference

Evangelical Christians are planning to gather this weekend for an evangelism conference that will focus on motivating and mobilizing churches to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Sponsored by The People's Church, Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM), and the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC), "Ignite the Light '06" will be held at the People's Church from Friday Jan. 20 to Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Toronto suburb of North York. The conference theme is "Evangelize to Revolutionize a Culture: Transforming our Culture One Life at a Time."
Workshops and seminars during the two-day gathering will focus on evangelistic issues such as using clear and creative communication, reaching out to a secular society, and discussing the role of faith in public life. In addition, speakers will teach evangelism techniques designed to reach out to children, students, co-workers, neighbors, and other cultures.

Featured plenary speakers include Dr. Micheal Green, an author, preacher, missionary, and former professor; Joe Boot, director of RZIM in Canada; David Macfarlane, director of National Initiatives with the EFC; and Charles Price, Pastor of the People's Church.
Scheduled seminars will include speakers Jenny Boot, Bruxy Cavey, Bruce Clemenger, Rob Parker, Hilary Price, Merv Budd, Rob Lukings, Rachel Tulloch, Mark Roberts, David Drake, and Brian Seim.
"Ignite the Light '06" is a part of Celebration 2006, a national initiative designed to "spark a spiritual renewal across Canada" through community service. The celebrations are scheduled to take place during a three-week period in May and June.
Last year, response to Celebration 2005 involved church communities from across Canada, coming together to create and take part in numerous activities aimed at sharing God's love to their surrounding communities. Events comprised of residential and park clean-ups, renovations and construction, free food distributions, benevolent funds, free community services, worship events and praise celebrations.
Celebration 2006 encourages Christians to "Pray, Prepare, and Participate" in these efforts to reach out and serve their fellow Canadians.
