Canceled TV Shows in 2016 on ABC, CBS, Fox, EW, NBC - Networks Axe Shows with Poor Ratings Performance, High Budget
Show business is still business, and those that don't serve the business will have to go.
With many shows ending their current season run, TV networks who air them have axed several shows in order to usher in new shows that, hopefully, will rake in more cash for the networks.
While it's true that fans of those that will be axed will surely be saddened, the network can't be blamed if it has to arrive at a decision of bringing them to the chopping board. After all, show business is still business, and those that don't serve the business will have to go.
ABC

In the case of ABC, the poor ratings performance and high budgets of "Castle," "Marvel's Agent Carter," and "Nashville" have prompted the network to drop them from the roster of shows that it airs. It also canceled "The Muppets," "Galavant," and "The Family." Meanwhile, "CSI:Cyber" is also taking a bow after ABC opted not to renew it for another season, as per Business Insider.
Fox
According to Variety, Fox dropped three of its comedies, "The Grinder" and "Grandfathered," and the animated comedy "Bordertown," all of which failed to attract viewership despite massive promotion and critical acclaim. The network is also canceling the American science fiction crime drama "Second Chance."
NBC
Meanwhile, NBC is letting go the American sitcom "Crowded" after its first season, thanks to its mediocre performance in the ratings game. Apart from "Crowded," the network is also canceling its two other freshman comedy "Telenovela." Other shows that will suffer the same fate with the said comedies are "Heartbeat," "Game of Silence," and "Undateable" as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
CW
After making a debut last month, "Containment" on CW is not getting a second season although the show itself has forewarned its viewers that it's going to be a limited series, TVLine reports.
As the TV Upfronts are slated next week, it will become clearer to the viewers what show will replace those that were not lucky enough to get a nod for another season. It will be in this event where TV networks announce the shows and the cast that the viewers can expect from them beginning fall and midseason.
