Candace Cameron Bure on Homosexuality: 'Loving Jesus Does Not Mean I Hate Gay People'
"Fuller House" star Candace Cameron Bure was recently criticised by Bianca Del Rio, a drag queen who won Season 6 of the reality competition Rue Paul's Drag Race.
Del Rio re-posted a photo of Bure wearing a "Not Today Satan" t-shirt on her Instagram account (@thebiancadelrio) and called the Christian personality a "homophobic Republican."
The drag queen was apparently referring to Bure's strong support for an Oregon bakery's decision to turn down an order for a gay wedding because it opposed their religious beliefs. Bure said on "The View" back in 2015 that they had a right to refuse the order, although many from the LGBT community believed otherwise.
In response, Bure wrote a comment on her post and set the record straight about her views on homosexuality on Del Rio's social media account.
"Why do you have to be nasty to me?" she questioned. "You don't know me or my heart. I'm not homophobic and [I'm] always sad when people think otherwise. Loving Jesus doesn't mean I hate gay people or anyone. You sent a bunch of hateful people to my page writing horrible things. I hope next time you'll spread love and kindness, even when you disagree with people. Sending you love and wish you all the best. Truly. – Candace."
Del Rio then took a screenshot of the comment and once again posted it with matching hashtags "#liveyourlife," "#lovejesus," and "#republicanpride."
