Candace Cameron Bure's Husband is the 'Man and Head of the Household,' While She's 'Heart of the Family'
Candace Cameron Bure celebrated Mother's Day by practicing for "Dancing With the Stars" then heading home to spend the rest of the day with her three children and husband. She recently spoke out about her role in the Bure family and said that she loves "being the heart of our household."
"People make jokes like, 'Do you have to ask your husband's permission to go shopping?' That's just ridiculous," Bure said when asked about her role in the family, based on her book "Balancing It All." "My husband and I are absolutely equals! But he is the man and head of our household. I love being the heart of our household," she explained. "When there are major decisions – like where we want to live – we may or may not agree. We talk it out, but if my husband thinks ultimately, 'Hey, this is the best and wisest thing for our family,' I trust that."
Bure gave up her own career for quite some time in order to build and focus on her family, which now includes three children: Natasha, 15; Lev, 14; and Maksim, 12. She and husband Valeri married in 1996 and have always worked to put their family first and take turns working on professional projects so that their children receive as much attention as needed.
"I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom while my husband played hockey," Bure told Us Weekly. "I love the industry, but work is work. It can stop. Family is forever! I give credit to my parents for teaching me to focus on that."
Brother Kirk Cameron married his "Growing Pains" co-star and they now have six children. He has been an outspoken advocate for the family and Christian values. Both he and Candace have spoken at length about their families and the importance of their faith while raising children and working.
Bure made it a point to state that she would remain true to her faith and values while competing on "Dancing With the Stars" and is now in the semi-finals, which air this week.
