Candace Patton disses rumor that her character will take a new 'leadership role' in 'The Flash' season 2!

"The Flash" season 1 finale ended with Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), or the Reverse-Flash, being defeated by Barry Allen (Jay Garrick). Now that the villain is misisng, fans are eagerly awaiting what will happen next in this upcoming season, especially with S.T.A.R. Labs losing its head.

Entertainment Weekly recently posted reports saying that S.T.A.R. Labs' possible new leader might be Iris West (Candace Patton). According to the post, the hit show's executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg, thinks that Iris is a natural born leader. "Iris slides into [the role] very naturally," said Kreisberg. The producer said that Patton's character can bring the team back together, and that she's the only one who can stand up to the show's hero.

Last weekend at the DragonCon, Candace Patton said that the rumors are not true during The Flash panel. The actress disses the speculation, saying that they were all just "gross exaggeration." "What I will say is that she does encourage Barry Allen to come back to S.T.A.R. Labs and get the team together and keep fighting to protect Central City," she clarified.

Patton also added that Iris will continue her job as a news reporter at the "Picture News," and will be seen stepping up to her role this season. "I am very excited about [the role] because I think she has a lot to offer Team Flash in that way," Patton explained. The actress' claim makes sense since she's the only one who can keep Barry in line, considering their strong relationship since childhood. Fans will just have to see how Iris and Barry's relationship will evolve in the second installment of The Flash.

The TV series will be back with its new season this Oct. 16 on the CW channel.
