Can't Get a $99 HP TouchPad on Black Friday? Walmart Has Tablets for 'Around' $99
Black Friday Does't Have to Be a Let-down
There is no doubt about it: getting a $99 HP TouchPad is hard to do. But if you are still dying to get your hands on a tablet for around the same price, Walmart has some great Black Friday deals on tablets for around the price of the elusive $99 HP TouchPad.
At a mere $79.98, the Pandigital Tablet PC is actually less than the $99 TouchPad. Running on the Android operating system, the Pandigital tablet has a 7-inch screen and 2 gigabytes of memory, which is obviously not as powerful as tablets that cost four times as much, but it is still capable of handling basic operations like surfing the web, listening to music, and watching videos.
Reviews on the Walmart website are generally good based on the price, and users warn potential buyers not to expect high-end tablet performance.
The next tablet for under $99 is the $97 Maylong M-250 Universal tablet. It has a 7-inch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, and runs on Android 2.2 OS.
Reviews for the Maylong M-250 were positive, especially for the price. One of the most common complaints, however, was about the Wi-Fi.
While some reviewers said the Wi-Fi worked well, quite a few said that feature was faulty. There could be a manufacturer issue, but other than that, for under $99, this tablet appears to be up to task.
If you are willing to swallow your pride and admit that you probably will not get your hands on a $99 HP TouchPad, consider spending a few bucks more ad get a Coby Kryos tablet for $114. Not up to HP TouchPad standards, but this tablet has more memory and a more powerful processor than the previous two tablets listed here for just a few bucks more.
Due to the fact there were so few reviews for this tablet on the Walmart website, CP checked out what Amazon customers had to say. With an average 3.5 star rating, reviews were positive, with 94 5-star ratings out of 304.
As one Amazon customer said, "This is not cheap – it's a steal."
