Captain America 3 Release Date, Plot Spoilers: New Storyline Features Psychotic Captain?
The third title to Marvel's Captain America film series is set for a premiere date of May 6, 2016. There aren't too many firm plot details leaked yet but those leaks and rumors are sure to continue ramping up in the aftermath of the second Avengers movie, Age of Ultron.
Naturally, the third Captain America film will be a continuation of Steve Roger's story through the Marvel film universe.
The Marvel movie franchise sometimes shuffles its talent among movies but with the success of the first Captain America film, the First Avenger, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were called back to write the Winter Soldier, which proved a massive hit among fans and critics alike.
Now, the duo is back to write the screenplay for the third Captain America film. Even with the two working on the plot for the third film, the finalized and complete plot is still unknown, even to the writers. Still, Markus and McFeely have some ideas on how they want the next Captain America film to go.
In an interview with Den of Geek, Markus released a major hint on what to expect in the 2016 premiere. Markus mentioned taking a more realistic road in the future Captain America movies, which rules out outrageous villain match-ups like the Captain facing the Dinosaur Man.
What's more, Markus mentioned at the end of his statement about a psychotic 1950's Captain America. For those unfamiliar with the comics, Markus was referring to the fourth Captain America, William Burnside.
In the comic universe, Burnside was a fanatic super-fan who took over Captain America's role when the original Captain was trapped in ice during the war. In order to fulfill this, Burnside and his sidekick Jack Monroe (who replaces Bucky Barnes) also used the Super Soldier Serum to enhance their abilities.
However, Burnside and Monroe misused the serum and it drove them mad. The two were then knocked out and placed in cryogenic stasis.
The hint of having the Burnside storyline unravel in the third Captain America movie is a possibility since the arc was closely tied to the 1950's politics and anti-communism sentiment of the time.
