Captain America 3 Titled 'Civil War,' Chadwick Boseman's Debut as Black Panther
Marvel Studios revealed the "Captain America 3" title during their event Tuesday earlier this week. The third installment in the Captain America series will be titled "Captain America: Civil War." In addition to the reveal of the title, the film has been scheduled for a May 6, 2016 premiere.
Robert Downey Jr. has already been confirmed to make his return in the film as Iron Man, not only that but Chadwick Boseman will be making his debut appearance as the Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In addition to the title and premiere date reveal, Marvel had also shown a scene from "Avengers: Age of Ultron" which features a conversation between Iron Man and Captain America which ultimately leads to "Captain America 3." It would seem that the Avengers had just been beaten by Ultron and the conversation triggers.
"Thor didn't say where he's going for answers?" Stark says to Rogers. Captain America then says something about their recent encounter with Ultron. "Earth's mightiest heroes and he pulled us apart like cotton candy," Rogers says.
Stark then jokes, "I don't trust a guy without a dark side. Call me old fashioned." Rogers then snaps back with, "Maybe you haven't seen mine yet."
It was already clear in the first Avengers film that the Captain and Iron Man didn't like each other very much. The tension between the two tightens in the third Captain America film and it escalates into something more serious than simple disagreement.
Following the comics, the two heroes are ultimately pitted against one another over the Superhero Registration Act, which dictates that anyone with superpowers should identify themselves and work for the U.S. government. Stark supports the act while Rogers is against it and this escalates into the film's title, "Civil War."
